SUMMARY:Box & Fir - music & songs from Jane Austen's era on original instruments at St Mary's
DESCRIPTION:Box & Fir are a nationally renowned ensemble from Windsor\, and we are very pleased they are coming all the way to Portsmouth to perform at our final Music Foundation Concert of the season. \nFeaturing Rogers Covey-Crump (Tenor)\, Jenny Thomas (Flute & \nRogers Covey-Crump\, Tenor  \nRecorder) and Ian Gammie (Guitar)\, they will be performing music from all four corners of the British Isles.  The programme\, featuring songs and traditional music from around 1800\, includes “The Last Rose of Summer”\, “Mary of Argyle”\, “Cadair Idris”\, “Tom Bowling” and more\, accompanied by an early guitar and 4-keyed wooden flute. \nJenny Thomas flute & recorder\, Ian Gammie guitar  \nFormed in 1994\, the Windsor Box&Fir Co has given many concerts. Appearances include the London Handel Festival\, Jane Austen’s House in Chawton\, Classic FM\, the Guildhall in York\, BBC1 Television\, Goodnestone Park\, Channel 4\, Nottingham University\, BBC Radio\, Royal Holloway College\, Meridian Television\, Kensington Palace\, V&A\, National Portrait Gallery\, Windsor Festival\, Norden Farm Arts Centre\, Clandon Park and many more. \nCDs include The Enchanted Garden (National Trust)\, A Garden of Delights (English Heritage)\, Music for Love and Marriage (Isis Records)\, and Hail Windsor\, crowned with lofty towers (DanubiaDiscs\, jointly with Café Mozart). They have also recorded 2 CDs of music from Jane Austen’s own collection in Chawton: The Music & Songs of Jane Austen (Isis Records) and\, together with Sophie Bevan and Rogers Covey-Crump\, Begone Dull Care (DanubiaDiscs). \nboxandfir.com\nfacebook.com/boxandfir \nConcert last about an hour.  Refreshments provided.
